Orton-Gillingham Introductory Course - Series E (In-person)

*This is a five (5) day event - Mon. May 20, Tues. May 21, Wed. May 22, Thurs. May 23, & Fri. May 24, 2024

The day one (1st day) registration ticket registers you for the entire series (all 5 days).

Audience: K-Grade 12: General and Special Education Teachers, Speech-Language Pathologists, Literacy Specialists/Coordinators, and Reading Interventionists

Presenter: Grace Sharma, Founder, Empowered Readers, LLC

NOTE: This is an in-person session

Description:

The Orton-Gillingham Approach is a structured, systematic, multisensory, and diagnostic-prescriptive approach for the teaching of language skills (including reading, spelling, and handwriting) for students with Dyslexia/SLD. This course will provide participants with an introduction to the basics of the Orton-Gillingham Approach within a classroom or small group.

Completion of this course and a supervised practicum* will prepare the trainee to apply for OG Classroom Educator Certification through the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA, formerly AOGPE).

One registration ticket registers you for the entire series. This training is held on five separate days, in seven-hour sessions on each day. There is an additional hour of asynchronous homework each day. Participants should plan to complete one day of asynchronous prerequisite assignments prior to the first day of the course. Full attendance is required for a certificate of attendance.

The cost to attend this session -- materials are NOT included -- is $50 for Connecticut public school personnel and $1,100 for non-public school personnel.

Ordering information for training materials is provided upon registration. Materials are estimated at $139, not including shipping costs.

Using a personal email to register for this event is strongly encouraged for ease of access to digital materials.

*For educators who are interested in certification, there is limited availability for an optional practicum, coordinated with the external presenter. Questions can be directed to external presenter upon completion of the course.

*Practicum includes additional coursework for an additional fee.
